A capital campaign is essentially a fundraiser for getting a large amount of funds in order to complete a specific project. In our case, we need to get a new roof, repair drywall, put down flooring, and repair some other things to all the back rooms on our fellowship hall building. All funds raised in this campaign can only be used for this specified project.
God has continued to open doors for us to be able to maintain our church property and we want to be faithful back to God in caring for what He’s given to us. We also recognize that this church was planted in the midst of a neighborhood for a good reason: so that we can reach people where they are. Because we want to care for what God has given us, we’re launching a capital campaign to raise funds so that we can continue to develop this property as a place of worship for our congregations and as a safe, welcoming space for our neighborhood.
In just the last two years we’ve been able to get some major projects accomplished. We painted the entire exterior of the church, we got the parking lot and basketball court repaired and re-sealed, and we renovated a classroom to make it bigger and more neutral for all different meeting types. Not only have these projects improved the appeal and relevance to our neighborhood, they’ve also helped us care for our neighborhood better. We now hold community basketball events on our court throughout the year, and our renovated classroom has been able to serve as a meeting place for things like mental health workshops and board meetings for the Curry Ford West organization. We’re utilizing our property to the best of our ability, but we’re running out of rooms! This campaign will be partnered between all 4 church congregations and is focused on raising money for building repairs for all of the back rooms of our fellowship hall building that were damaged by hurricane Ian and other previous water damage (see pictures below).
Our target number is $50,000 to be able to re-roof and take care of all the other repairs needed. We need this money raised by the end of 2023.
